Scope
These Conditions of Participation shall apply to the 31st International Conference on Magnetic Resonance in Biological Systems (hereinafter “Event”), organized by the University of Basel.
Registration and Registration Fee
The Participant places a binding order by completing his / her registration and undertakes to pay the fee for participation in the Event (hereinafter “Registration Fee”) in full and on time. The participation fees are owed upon registration and are payable within 7 days.
Participation is not guaranteed until full payment of the registration fee is received.
The Registration Fee includes some meals for the duration of the conference, as detailed in the conference program. The Participant may opt to add “Conference Banquet” to the order which will result in an extra fee.
The Registration Fee includes travel with the Swiss public railway system (SBB), from the port of entry into Switzerland to Davos and back. The participants will receive vouchers for these travels, valid in 2nd class for an extended time frame around the conference.
The cost for accommodation is not included in the Registration Fee.
Cancellation of registration
Cancellation of the registration by the participant must be made in writing, by email to icmrbs_2026@unibas.ch.
The following cancellation fees apply:
- before 1 June 2026: 50 CHF
- from 1 June 2026 to 22 July 2026: 50% of the registration fees
- after 22 July 2026: 100% of the registration fees
Cancellation of the Event
The University of Basel reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event if unforeseeable disruptions occur at the venue (force majeure) or if health and safety risks exist for Participants and speakers for which the University of Basel is not responsible.
In such a case, University of Basel only undertakes to refund a Registration Fee already paid by the Participant. All other claims by the Participant (e.g. claims for damages in the event of cancellation of the Event) are expressly excluded.
Program
University of Basel reserves the right to modify the program of the Event. Such a modification neither entitles the Participant to request a registration fee reduction nor a reimbursement of such fees.
Conduct during the Event
The Participant must refrain from discriminatory conduct and disruptive behavior during the Event, including behaviors which may endanger the health or safety of other Participants or would be detrimental to the rights or other interests of University of Basel. Audio or video reproductions of the Event are not allowed without prior written authorization from University of Basel. The Participant must comply with any instructions issued by University of Basel in the context of the Event.
Insurance
The Participant is responsible for having adequate insurance coverage, notably, but not limited to, accident insurance and third-party liability insurance. University of Basel declines all responsibility in the event of an accident.
Limitation of liability
The Participant recognizes and acknowledges that the liability of the University of Basel for any claim of a Participant linked to an act of wrongdoing or an omission of the University of Basel in the context of the Event is limited to the registration fees paid by the Participant for the Event, to the extent legally permitted.
The University of Basel does not accept liability for any consequential damages and undertakes no liability for acts or omissions of third parties. Any other liability of the University of Basel is excluded to all extent possible under the applicable law, e.g. liability for theft, misappropriation or deterioration of personnel effects and, in general, of any object under the responsibility of the Participant occurring during the Event, liability in the event of technical failure of the equipment or for any other reason for which it cannot be held responsible, or liability in the event services linked to the Event do not meet the expectations of a Participant.
Data protection
The University of Basel acts as the data controller in relation to Participants’ personal data collected and processed linked to the registration, respectively, during Participants’ attendance at the Event. By registering for the Event, the Participant acknowledges that they might be photographed or filmed during their participation in the Event and that the pictures might be published on the Event website, social media, and advertising materials.
Severability
The unenforceability or invalidity of any provision, or part of any provision, of these Conditions of Participation shall not affect the enforceability or validity of the rest of these Conditions of Participation.
Changes of the Conditions of Participation
University of Basel reserves the right to change these Conditions of Participation at its discretion. Any material change will be communicated to the Participant via email or by any other means deemed appropriate by University of Basel.
Applicable law and jurisdiction
These Conditions of Participation shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with Swiss law, to the exclusion of conflict of law rules.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Conditions of Participation shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Basel-Stadt, Switzerland.
