Schanda, Paul
Institute of Science and Technology, Vienna, Austria
Paul got a background in methods development in solution- and MAS-NMR, before turning to biological questions — first as a group leader in Grenoble, and since 2021 as Professor at ISTA (Austria). Besides their continued interest in NMR methods development — from pulse sequences to machine learning—, Paul’s group focuses on the role of protein dynamics for biological function. Their research ranges from fundamental biophysical questions (“How does allostery work?”) to cellular mechanisms (“How do chaperones guide proteins into mitochondria?”).
